Frequently asked questions.

  • I charge $200 for each 50 minute session for individual, family, or couple therapy. I also have limited availability for reduced fee clients at $150 per session.

    I am out-of-network with insurance.

  • I will collect your credit card information with your intake forms and charge your credit card after each session. 

    I can submit out-of-network claims to your insurance company on your behalf or I am happy to provide you with the document to submit claims yourself if you prefer. Your insurance company will reimburse you according to your out-of-network policy.

  • I generally see clients on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with evening appointments available Tuesdays and Thursdays. 

  • We will briefly discuss what’s bringing you to therapy to make sure my areas of specialty are a good fit for your needs. You can ask me questions about logistics, my therapy approach and experience, or therapy in general. 

  • During our first appointment I conduct an assessment to understand your concerns, relationship dynamics, general history, and set some goals for therapy. I ask you questions to get to know you and formulate a therapeutic approach, and I welcome your questions along the way.

  • I meet with in-person clients at my office in south Durham, which includes a large parking lot with free parking. There is a comfortable waiting room if you arrive early.

    Yes, I provide virtual therapy for clients who reside in North Carolina. Due licensing restrictions, I can only meet virtually with clients who are located in North Carolina. 

  • I ask for 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or change your appointment. I charge a $100 cancellation fee for appointments cancelled less than 24 business hours in advance.

  • Our consultation call is a good opportunity to determine if I can provide the services you are looking for, and if my personality and approach feel comfortable for you. I provide opportunities to check in during the therapy process and encourage feedback. If either of us determine that I am not the right therapist for you, I will happily provide you with other referral options. 

  • To help you reach your goals, I use Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman methods in couples therapy. With individuals and families, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Attachment-Based modalities, as well as play therapy for children.

  • I earned a Masters degree in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Maryland. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of North Carolina. I have been providing couple, family, and individual therapy for more than 10 years. 

    My areas of expertise include relationship conflict, attachment concerns, separation and divorce, parent-child relationships, blended families, self-esteem, depression, and anxiety. I provide Discernment Counseling for couples considering divorce and I am a facilitator for the Prepare/Enrich premarital counseling program.
